ProHealth Partners is proud to announce that Mr. Jon Nickey, the company’s director of clinical operations, has earned certification as a Geriatric Clinical Specialist (GCS).
This certification is given to physical therapists with advanced geriatric clinical knowledge, experience and skills. To earn this title, Nickey completed more than 2,000 hours of direct patient care and took an exam that tested his application of advanced knowledge, clinical skills and reasoning.
According to the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists, fewer than 2,500 physical therapists have this certification.
“Becoming a board certified clinical specialist in geriatric physical therapy is another way ProHealth and I are demonstrating our commitment to pursuing the highest level of skill to better serve our patients,” said Nickey.
There are no study materials for the GCS examination, so Nickey attended conferences and took continuing education courses to prepare for the examination. He also conducted research that spanned throughout the entire medical profession to increase his understanding of the profession and the role physical therapists play in providing patient care.
Nickey has been with ProHealth Partners for eight years and has assisted the company with managing continuous growth during that time.
“Being the Director of Clinical Operations has been a rewarding experience that has allowed me to work along side a number of our great clinicians,” Nickey said. “As a privately owned organization, we’re able to work as a team and achieve goals that are in the best interest of our patients.”
